Man of Taste

Clark Gable was a well dressed man in real life as well as on the screen. He had learned the value of a good wardrobe from his early days as a struggling actor. Overall, Gable had a strong influence on men's fashions of the 20th Century.

Many on set could often find Gable enjoying a cup of coffee between scenes. However, Gable also filmed several scenes where he drank a good ole’ steaming cup of coffee. In his iconic movie No Man of Her Own, Gable famously reveals to Carole Lombard, “I never laugh until I’ve had my coffee.” He even sparked the trend of dunking donuts in milk in a scene from another classic of Gable’s. During a scene with actress Claudette Colbert in It Happened One Night, the actor shows Colbert the proper technique to dunk a donut in a steaming cup of coffee.
